See Me. See Me Whine.

So I read all these blogs all over the internet from homeschooling moms who have brilliant unschooled children with exceptional manners who never give their parents a minute’s trouble.
Where can I sign up for that?
I went for coffee and adult talk with my dear friend Meadow (you may remember her…she and I are the ones in the weird homeschool cult…) while her husband took all the kids to the playground. Ahh, a relaxing couple of hours…then it was time to pick up the kids.
There is always a price to be paid for Mom time off. That’s my seat! No, that’s my seat! MoOooom! I was here first! I don’t want to get in the van, I want to walk! Why can’t we get a milkshake? The Comet pinched me! Ow! *sobs and howls galore*
I just sat there in silence, wondering where the hell I’ve gone wrong.
…and no, they aren’t like this all the time, but it seems to come in waves. This one came from the ocean.
When you find out where to sign up, count me in! Honestly, I think there is a big difference between life on paper (or on a blog, as the case may be) and real life. There are no perfect, “normal” families in captivity.
I doubt we’re the only two home schooling/unschooling moms in cyberspace whose kids aren’t teaching themselves Latin and Greek and behaving impeccably every waking moment.
Maybe we should sponsor a “Let’s Get Real” carnival or something, and everyone can post those not-so-printable moments. I can see it now - photos of my three-year-old throwing tantrums (plenty of photo ops on any given day), my older kids in day-old clothes and with unbrushed hair fighting with each other (”You fix us drinks this time - I did it last time! Do it! MO-O-O-M!”) The house is trashed of course (as it is 75% of the time) On second thought … maybe nobody wants to see or read this stuff.

[…] Recently Scrappitydoodah wrote about seemingly perfect unschooling families who have children that fill their days with nothing but impeccable manners and brilliance. She wants to know how she can sign up for such an arrangement. […]
((Hugs))
Mine isn’t always perfectly behaved;)
